Foul Bowel's

The Foul Bowel’s team are thrilled to be the featured Family Team for the 2019 Gutsy Walk!
Prior to being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2007 (after months of tests, a few misdiagnosis’s and finally a bowel resection) I had never heard of Crohn’s. As a scared 18 year old, I did my research about how my life would forever be changed and this search brought me to Crohn’s & Colitis Canada’s website. When I stumbled across the Gutsy Walk event information, it gave me the opportunity to feel impactful and be part of a community. Raising funds for a cause and a cure was a big motivation but most importantly, having the opportunity to exchange experiences with others and raise awareness has been more meaningful than I could have ever imagined. Over the years, through fundraising for the Gutsy Walk, I have been amazed at how many people have openly shared their stories or that of their loved ones who struggle with IBD. Many of these individuals have been consistent donors or joined our team and become friends. This communication in itself is breaking down the stigma that comes with many of the day-to-day struggles of Crohn’s & Colitis.

Over the past 10 years, The Foul Bowel’s team has continuously grown in size. In that time, our team has collectively raised just over $90,000 and we could not be more proud and grateful. The Gutsy Walk has become a day for my family and friends (some of who have also been recently diagnosed themselves) to embrace what is now an annual tradition but also connect with the familiar faces we see at the Peel Gutsy Walk. We vow to continue to be a part of a better tomorrow for those of us living with IBD and those who support us.

Health & Happiness,
Chantelle De Couto & The Foul Bowel’s Team
